Gris Caro drops out of Melbourne Cup

Only a day after being included in the final 40 entries, Naturalism Stakes winner Gris Caro has been officially withdrawn from the Melbourne Cup.

Connections have notified Racing Victoria stewards the former French galloper was heading to the spelling paddock and would not be competing again during the spring carnival.

Gris Caro is trained at Victor Harbour (SA) by Jake Stephens, best known for his success with Alcopop, a Mackinnon Stakes winner before running third in the Hong Kong Cup.
