NEW jockeys' room enforcer Nash Rawiller is confident of playing the role of giant-killer at Rosehill tomorrow, reports The Age & Sydney Morning Herald.

It says: Trainer John O'Shea has booked the heavyweight rider for the Rosehill Guineas ride on Zabrasive, while Rawiller's boss, Gai Waterhouse, has him on juveniles Brightexpectations (Pago Pago Stakes) and More Strawberries (Magic Night Stakes).

''Nash was always a very, very good rider, but since arriving in Sydney he has gone to another level,'' O'Shea said yesterday. ''His work ethic [has improved] since joining Gai Waterhouse. He is at the track riding work six mornings a week and he is getting the results.

''When you can't get [Hugh] Bowman or [Corey] Brown it is natural to migrate to Nash. I've probably gone back to when I started, get the best jockey available.''

O'Shea has Zabrasive on target for the AJC Australian Derby after the son of staying sire Zabeel ran an eye-catching fourth behind Shoot Out in the Randwick Guineas a fortnight ago.

''He has improved since the guineas,'' O'Shea said.

Rawiller was called in for the guineas ride when Bowman was suspended at Rosehill last Saturday.

''I'm really happy to have picked up the ride and he has drawn well in one,'' Rawiller said. ''Hugh had his hands tied the other day, had to go back from the outside barrier. From the inside I'll be able to have him where John wants the horse.''

Rawiller would have been on Waterhouse's Randwick Guineas runner-up Viking Legend, but the horse's autumn campaign was abandoned because of injury.
