PETER Moody may have as many as five runners in next month's $500,000 Lightning Stakes at Flemington, reports The Age.

It says: After a stellar season, Moody looks certain to make an impact on the autumn carnival with the Caulfield trainer having an abundance of high-class sprinters. Outstanding filly Black Caviar will make her first racetrack appearance since being sidelined with injury during the spring carnival.

''She's come along well and I'm very happy with the progress she's making and the Lightning looks like the perfect race to start her campaign,'' Moody said. ''She appears to be over those problems we encountered in the spring and the Lightning Stakes will give us an insight on where we go with her during the autumn.''

Moody said yesterday that Black Caviar would be joined by stablemates Wanted, Duporth, Headway and Blue Diamond winner Reward For Effort.

''Four of those look pretty certain starters, but I'll just adopt a wait-and-see with Reward For Effort as he mightn't be quite ready for the race,'' he said. ''But I'm extremely happy with all of them and they've all come back looking ready for a strong autumn.''
