In-form Randwick trainer John O’Shea is a little wary about running his exciting three-year-old Savvy Nature at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday. The last start impressive winner of the Group 3 $150,000 Spring Stakes (1600m) at Newcastle will tackle the Group 3 $200,000 Gloaming Stakes (1800m) on Saturday.

“The horse is really well...He’s trained on nicely since Newcastle,” O’Shea told TVN this week.

“The only query I have is going back to Rosehill Gardens instead of Randwick.

"He’s a horse who likes to get back and swoop and that can be a problem at Rosehill sometimes,” he said.

“This is an important race for him going forward, we’re happy with the way he is progressing along with a couple of big races coming up for him in the next month,” O’Shea said.

The son of Cox Plate winner Savabeel will be ridden again on Saturday by gun young rider James McDonald.

“We’ll ride him quiet and see how the race unfolds – we’ll just leave it up to James,” he said.

“He should be very competitive on Saturday.”

The latest fixed odds market has Savvy Nature the second favourite at $4.20 behind Anthony Cummings’ Drago at $3.
