Trainer John O’Shea will put the saddle on Savvy Nature in Saturday’s Group 1 $600,000 Royal Randwick Guineas (1600m) as the first of his two ‘majors’ this autumn, reports Racing Network.
“He’ll go to the Rosehill Guineas after Saturday then we’ll worry about anything else after that. These are his two major races at the moment,” O’Shea said.
Savvy Nature, the one-time boom three-year-old from last Spring, resumed at Rosehill Gardens in the Group 2 $200,000 Hobartville Stakes on March 1, over an unsuitable 1400 metres, and he charged home from the back of the field to run third.
“His effort first-up was very good and he’s done well since.
"I’m pretty happy heading into Saturday, but it’s a very strong renewal of the race, for sure,” he said.
Savvy Nature has drawn nicely in barrier six and O’Shea gun young stable rider James McDonald has the ride.
“He gets his chance,” O’Shea said simply.
Savvy Nature is marked a $10 chance in latest fixed-odds markets behind the Kiwi, El Roca, who us favourite at $3.80.
