Race One:

Race One:

OVERVIEW: CARLO GAMBINO (5) is a former New Zealand pacer, which joins trainer Amanda Turnbull. He possesses a good turn of speed, won at Wyndham at his latest attempt back in March and strikes a suitable assignment first up so he warrants respect. LAGOM (3) was unsuited to racing without cover throughout when 7th at Shepparton last week ($2-80 fav). She finished in the top four at her previous six attempts and she should run a good race again under these conditions. CAESAR MOON (1) lacks early dash but he is a chance of trailing the leader from the pole position. He worked home quite well for 2nd behind Nightmares last outing so he should be competitive via the sprint lane. GOODLOOKIN ROOSTER (2) ran his best race since coming from New South Wales when he worked home from midfield and finished 2nd behind A Good Knight last week. He possesses gate speed and is a good chance of trying to lead throughout from the good draw. PENNY ANNE (7) has had no luck whatsoever in her two starts back from a spell and is a possible improver. IAMTHEFIRECRACKER (12) has the ability to win but he does a lot wrong and galloped away at his latest unplaced run.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 3,5,6

Race Two:

OVERVIEW: ATREACHEROUS (2) settled four back on the markers, was held up for a run at a vital stage and motored to the line when an eye-catching 3rd at her debut. She was performing nicely at the trials prior and will take beating under these conditions. FLY BYE EDEN (1) is a first starter for trainer Ian Ward, which has had two trials recently for a 3rd and a win, the latest victory being over MAJOR BILL (6) and by a comfortable margin. She obviously has ability and is worth following. HEAVENLY BELLE (3) is racing well and deserves to break through for a win. She worked hard to lead when a close 2nd behind Sweet Appeal at Bendigo last week after being narrowly beaten in a slick mile rate of 1.56.0 at Kilmore. NIKI NAH NAH (4) is resuming since a distant 3rd in the Allied Express Classic at Melton in Feb. She has been placed in two recent trial performances, the latest being a 3rd behind Heza Braxton at Kilmore where she chased hard in the back straight so she is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 1,2

Race Three:

OVERVIEW: JILLIBY ROY (10) has always shown ability and strikes a suitable assignment at his first up run since May. He was an easy winner at Ballarat in Feb and worked hard at his latest 5th so he is worth thought at his first run for trainer Kate Hargeaves. MAJOR WISH (9) has been racing below his best form but he appears to be suited against this opposition and he is strong enough to make an early move. He ran a better race at his latest 2nd where he left a trailing position to make a forward move at the 500m. WOTPLANETRUFROM (4) led throughout in successive Cranbourne victories prior to his past two unplaced performances. He is drawn to lead again and he will be suited over the sprint distance. THE BUTCHER (3) worked home nicely via the sprint lane when a handy 3rd at Shepparton last week. He lacks early pace but he has been promising a win at longer odds for some time. GOTONEBETTOR (7) hasn't raced for a year but he has been placed in several recent Maryborough trial performances so he is not without chance.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 2,6

Race Four:

OVERVIEW: ROCKON LOCKSLEY (7) hasn't produced his best form for some time but he will appreciate a big drop back in class for this assignment. He has been sparingly raced since a Cobram victory in Nov (1.56.2) and at his best, he likes to race close to the speed. PADDINGTON CENTRAL (6) finished off fairly well from midfield when 4th behind Ohoka Diesel (won again since) at Cranbourne. He has been unplaced in six starts since a Melton victory in March but he will find this to be a suitable race. FREMARKSGONZO (8) ran a better race at Mildura last outing where he trailed the leader and finished off well once he secured a clear passage. He is likely to be shuffled back on the markers but he has the ability to be competitive if he gains the right luck in running. The former New South Wales trained pacer MILLION DOLLAR ART (9) is making his debut for trainer Peter Romero. He hasn't been at his best form recently but he is the winner of ten races so he appears to be well graded in this event. MAJOR POWERS (2) is a fast beginner from the mobile and is a value hope if she finds the lead.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 4,7

Race Five:

OVERVIEW: SONNY WEAVER (13) is a quality colt, which recorded fast time at a Shepparton trial victory last week over Western Sonador and should take beating first up. He was placed in a heat of the New South Wales Derby last campaign and finished 6th in the Final. NOTA REPLICA (12) possesses a handy finishing burst and worked into a distant 2nd at Shepparton last week behind My Bettor Lady. He defeated a handy field at Kilmore when resuming so he is not to be underestimated. OUR AMERICAN PRINCESS (11) had no luck whatsoever when 4th behind MONASH (6) last outing and is worth another chance. She was runner up against similar opposition at her three starts prior to last week. REGULUS (1) is a former New South Wales pacer, which led throughout to win comfortably at his first run for trainer Kari Males. It is a very quick front line in this event but he is a chance again if he doesn't have to do too much work in the early stages. MONASH (6) is terribly drawn but produced a strong performance to win at Shepparton last week so he cannot be discarded.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,3,6,7

Race Six:

OVERVIEW: If the emergency FISCAL FANTASY (9) gains a start, she will prove very hard to beat. GOLDEN SAND (11) is racing consistently and deserves to break through for a win. He settled midfield and finished off well for a handy 3rd in a quick mile rate of 1.55.5 last outing. YARRAWONGA LASSIE (3) is resuming from a break but will be fitter from a trial 2nd behind Dearest at Shepparton on July 07. She led throughout in victories at Maryborough and Kilmore towards the end of her last campaign and is worth an investment from the good draw. ORBIE (2) is a handy 3yo filly, which was able to find the lead when she dashed home in a quick final half to win at Bendigo prior to a 4th behind the undefeated Boxofchocolates where she had no luck in the early stages. She is drawn to give another forward showing. FANTASY BEACH (5) has been racing well against slightly stronger opposition and is worth thought. BIT OF A DREAM (1) is resuming since Dec but she is a fast beginner and has claims along with JUMPINGJACKHANOVER (8).

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,3,6

Race Seven:

OVERVIEW: REGAL ASSASSIN (9) got a long way back from a similar handicap and worked into a distant 3rd under similar conditions at Shepparton last week. He won twice at Kilmore prior and he should be competitive if he gets away cleanly. BRO CREED (10) rates as a value hope. He produced a solid finish to win at Shepparton two starts back and should have finished much closer last week as he made a mistake in the back straight, before making up a lot of ground and having no luck late. He is a risky beginner but is a chance if he steps away. THE MAJESTIC (7) was runner up under similar conditions last week where he stepped away nicely and was able to get in behind the leader. He has been placed in three of his past four starts and is a place chance again. ENFORCE THE LAW (13) is a recent Shepparton trial winner and is the class runner of the field but he faces a tough handicap of 40m. He was forced to do plenty of chasing after being in trouble early at his latest game 4th so he cannot be dismissed. ALLWOODS SUNBEAM (6) and VALLEY ESS JAY (8) are both worth thought in an open race for the trotters.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 5, 7 (10m) 8 (10m)

Race Eight:

OVERVIEW: ESTERNA (1) continues to perform well and gets her chance to break through for her maiden success. She just failed to peg back Polly Peachum when a narrow 2nd last week so she is capable of going one better. RUESLAN (4) has moved forward to race without cover at his only two starts to date and ran a better race at his latest 3rd. He led and won a Kilmore trial prior to his debut so he is a definite winning chance. WHERES WOOD WOOD (6) had her chance to finish closer behind Allshookup at Shepparton last outing but she is a speedy filly and is capable of showing up against this class. BELLA BRONSKI (8) has a nice trailing draw behind ESTERNA (1) and is racing well enough to feature prominently. JET JOCKEY (3) should continue to improve with the benefit of racing and WANDANA DEBSPREAD (9) is a possible improver.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 1,6,7
