Imported galloper Warringah is ready to get his qualifying ticket to start in jumping races and will trial over hurdles on Wednesday.

The six-year-old, who has been with the Robbie Laing stable for six weeks, will trial over 2800m at Cranbourne with leading jumps jockey Steve Pateman in the saddle.

"He jumps well," Laing said of the horse who started his career in England under the care of Sir Michael Stoute.

Warringah was sent to Australia for the 2009 Melbourne Cup as the winner of two races but after leading he dropped out to finish last to Shocking.

He had two Sydney stints with modest results for Rosehill trainer Chris Waller.

In between he was prepared at the Gold Coast by Bruce Hill who trained him to win a 2400m race at Eagle Farm on Melbourne Cup day last year.

Laing has nominated Warringah for the $200,000 Listed Andrew Ramsden Stakes (3200m) and the Banjo Paterson Series Heat 1 (2000m) at Flemington on Saturday.

Sermon is also back in the Laing team after a stint with Brown in Queensland where he managed to win a 2200m event at Eagle Farm on January 26.

Laing, who won the 2009 Cranbourne Cup with Sermon, is readying the gelding for a jumps career and also has him engaged in a 2400m hurdle trial on Wednesday.

The Octagonal seven-year-old is entered for Saturday's Henry Bolte Handicap (1700m) at Flemington.

Laing's other Flemington nominations are four-year-old Count Lotus in the Andrew Ramsden and the promising two-year-old Scelto in the Listed Gibson Carmichael Stakes (1600m).

Both Count Lotus and Scelto are by Pentire, a sire whose progeny Laing has enjoyed considerable success with including Pantani, Sir Pentire and Botero.

Scelto has raced just twice and last start ran on well to finish third to The New Boy over 1400m at Flemington on May 7.
