Five-year-old Vardon Flyer lines up in the Sydney City Toyota Handicap (1400m) on the Kensington track a week after a disappointing run at Rosehill.
Unraced Catbird colt Big Sunday is an acceptor for the Jim Beam Handicap (1000m).
"I'm going to save him for Sunday week," Cummings said.
"Chances are that he'll go first-up into the Slipper at Wyong, he's got no money behind him, we'll just take the odds of getting in.
"If he doesn't get in he'll race on the Saturday prior at Rosehill. So it will be Saturday or Sunday for him."
Big Sunday was scratched from a 1000-metre maiden plate at Cranbourne last Sunday because of the heavy track.
"I didn't see any point running him on a bog track so we brought him back here and he worked nicely on Wednesday morning," Cummings said.
Big Sunday was second to Blades Of Glory at his only public appearance in an 800-metre barrier trial at Cranbourne on November 16.
Cummings expects a vastly improved run from Vardon Flyer who only beat one home in a 1500-metre race won by Baci Amore at Rosehill last week.
Everything that could have gone wrong for the Flying Spur gelding did.
"He fell on his nose getting out of the gates and had to work double getting over to settle just behind the speed," Cummings said.
"From the top of the straight there was a thing to his inside trying to go through him and then inside the furlong (200m) a thing on his outside shortened him up, so it was three strikes you're out."
The gelding underwent a veterinary examination after the race on a day where temperatures hovered around the mid-30 degree mark.
"The vet would have found something wrong with me but he didn't find anything wrong with the horse," Cummings said.
"He was maybe a little bit new and the three weeks between runs probably didn't do him any favours."
Two runs back Vardon Flyer was third to Gangitano at over 1500 metres at Rosehill on October 31 after striking interference at the start of the race.
