Epsom Handicap favourites Ashikaga and Bank Robber have been given 51 and 52 kilograms respectively for the Group One feature on October 4.

The Gai Waterhouse trained stablemates are both at $5 for the Epsom ahead of Triple Honour ($6), who received 56kg.

The minimum topweight is 57kg and Triple Honour and Mentality will both go up a kilogram if Niconero does not run.

Racing To Win has topweight of 60.5kg but has already been ruled out of the spring while Niconero (57kg) is likely to remain in Melbourne.

Trainer Chris Waller has yet to decide whether Triple Honour will start and won't make up his mind until after he gives the Doncaster winner another weight-for-age test in the George Main Stakes (1600m) a week before the Epsom.

Many trainers are disappointed when their horses receive top weight, not so Waller.

"I'd love to have the topweight in a big race like this," Waller said.

Triple Honour was beaten by Gallant Tess in the Chelmsford Stakes last Tuesday and Waller immediately decided blinkers would go back on the four-year-old because of a tendency to hang in.

A win by Triple Honour in the George Main Stakes would almost certainly rule out an Epsom start.

"If he wins the George Main he will go to Melbourne," Waller said.

"If he doesn't win but it looks like he has another run left in him, he could run in the Epsom.

"If he goes badly he will go for a spell.

"Everything hinges on the George Main."

Bank Robber gained automatic entry to the 1600m Epsom with his stunning victory in the Tramway Hcp (1400m) last Tuesday while Ashikaga will attempt to do the same in Wednesday's Cameron Hcp (1400m) at Newcastle.

Ashikaga has won all four career starts while Bank Robber's record is five from six.

The Anthony Cummings-trained Red Lord, the $3.80 favourite for the Metropolitan Hcp (2400m) on the same day as the Epsom, received 54kg for the Group One race with Pompeii Ruler topweight with 57.5kg.

Fiumicino is next with 56.5kg and is a $13 chance while second favourite Guillotine ($9) has the same weight as Red Lord.

New Zealander Capecover, an impressive winner in Adelaide on Saturday, has 51.5kg and is a $16 chance.

Trainer Alexander Fieldes is yet to decide where Capecover runs next but is keen to get him in the Melbourne Cup field.

Grafton Cup winner Art Success has 52.5kg and runs in Thursday's Newcastle Cup (2300m).
