Trainer Rob Heathcote allowed himself a big smile after punters' nightmare horse Work The Room returned to his best form to win the final winter carnival feature race, the Tattersall's Mile, at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

In a thrilling finish, Work The Room ($7.50) gave Heathcote a winning treble when he stormed home from last to beat Silent Movie ($13) by a length with a half-neck to Frozone ($6.50) in third place in the 1600m Listed feature.

Work the Room had started favorite at his previous four starts without winning and many punters had dropped him as a genuine chance in Saturday's race.

But Heatchote said he had never given up hope of Work The Room finding his best form.

"Look, this is a very good horse and I think a lot of people dropped off a bit too quickly. He had problems when he came here from Melbourne and it has been a matter of working them out," Heathcote said.

He said on what Work The Room had shown him on the training track he was a very good horse.

"It was a big decision by the owners to send him here and I think it will prove the right move," Heathcote said.

"There is a 2100-metre Open handicap here in a fortnight which will suit him. Melbourne is probably off the agenda at this stage because of the timing. But you can take it as read that there is a very good race in this horse."

Work the Room has now won four races from only 13 starts.

The win took Heathcote to 61-1/2 wins for the season, his best ever performance, but he believes he can better it next year.

"We've got a lot of good young horses coming through," Heathcote said.

Winning jockey Paul Hammersley said Work The Room should have no trouble with a middle distance.

Scott Seamer, who rode Silent Movie, said his mount had every chance but the winner was too strong.

Meanwhile, smart young sprinter Tierqualo is to be set for the BRC summer treble after his impressive win in the Tattersall's Arcade Hcp (1200m).

Tierqualo ($3.30 fav) got the run of the race before coming away to score by 1-1/4 lengths from Age of Heroes ($5.50) with a half-neck to Falvela Star ($5.50).

Trainer Kelly Doughty said Tierqualo would have one more run before a spell and then come back for the summer treble which is run from 1200m to 1600m in December and January.

Doughty said Tierqualo would be suited working through the distances as she had no doubts he would run a strong 1600m.

"He has been most consistent this time and deserved the win. I suppose his consistency meant he had to get 58kg today but he is starting to get up there," Doughty said.
