The long-awaited return to racing of Group One winner Dealer Principal has been tempered by injury to his stablemate, potential topliner, Trader.

Trainer Anthony Cummings said Trader, a comprehensive winner at Rosehill on Saturday, had been found to have a bone chip and would now be spelled.

The four-year-old's career has been beset by similar problems and he has had just six starts, winning three.

"He's had to have a chip taken out of a joint," Cummings said.

"He'll head off the paddock now.

"It's not too serious an injury and once it's cleaned up it will be ok.

"It's disappointing but we'll live to fight another day."

Dealer Principal, meanwhile, will resume in the 1300m Open Handicap at Randwick on Saturday after more than a year off the scene.

The 2008 Rosehill Guineas winner injured his knee in a freak trackwork accident but showed his fitness with a close second in a recent barrier trial.

"He fractured a bone at the back of the knee," Cummings said.

"He was just doing a slow canter when he tripped over and hurt himself.

"He came through the trial well and will run on Saturday with Rod Quinn to ride.

"I think he should run very well and we are hoping he gets back to somewhere like he was."

Cummings is spending the week on the Gold Coast for the Magic Millions Sales and race meeting on Saturday where Tallow represents the stable in the $1 million Trophy (1400m).

"She's been up here for a while and is in good shape heading into Saturday's race," he said.

Cummings' other runner on the day will be Namsarai in the $100,000 Maiden (1200m).

Namsarai fell in a race at Hawkesbury on December 11 which prompted Cummings to send him north.

"Instead of running in a $10,000 maiden he's running in a $100,000 maiden, it's worked out all right," he said.

Tallow was a $15 chance with TAB Sportsbet ahead of Tuesday's barrier draw with Love Conquers All favourite at $5.
