Torio's Quest proved trainer Brett Partelle's high opinion of him was spot-on when he scored a big win in the $250,000 Queensland Guineas at Eagle Farm.

Partelle rated Torio's Quest as a Group One winner in the making after he won the Magic Millions Guineas in January and the horse took a big step towards that with victory in Saturday's Group Two feature.

"I told anyone who would listen that this horse is a top horse in the making," Partelle said.

"I was very close to starting him in the Stradbroke but I took this option because I thought the mile (1600m) would suit him better.

"We've been very patient with him and that's what I knew he was capable of.

"He's pleased me since he's been here and now I can't wait to get him back in the spring."

A $15,000 purchase at the Adelaide Magic Millions sale, Torio's Quest took his earnings past $850,000 with his Guineas victory.

Superbly ridden by Hugh Bowman, Torio's Quest exploded in the straight and beat Benny's Buttons by four lengths with Spot The Rock a short neck back in third.

Race favourite Havatryst enjoyed the run of the race in fourth place but only plugged in the straight to finish sixth.

Partelle said Torio's Quest would be spelled immediately and aimed towards Melbourne in the spring.

"He'll be a dynamic horse when he matures fully and you wait until you see him in the spring," he said.

"I'll put him away now and give him a good spell and get him down south in the spring."

Benny's Buttons' jockey Chris Munce told trainer Kelso Wood the horse had every chance.

"He had a great run and let down like he was going to win," Munce said.

"But the winner went straight past him and was way too good."
