Top Drop is the new favourite for the Magic Millions Guineas with Squamosa out of the $1 million race.

The Gerald Ryan-trained Top Drop scored against older horses at Randwick on Boxing Day and heads the revised TAB Sportsbet market at $4.40 for the January 15 race on the Gold Coast.

Squamosa and Toorak Toff were the two favoured runners in early markets for the 1400m three-year-old feature but both have been ruled out in recent weeks.

The Tony Vasil-trained Intencion is next in latest Magic Millions Guineas betting at $5 ahead of Queenslanders Spirit Of Boom and Startsmeup at $8.

Ryan also prepares the second favourite for the $2 million Magic Millions Classic in Schiffer, who is at $5.50 behind unbeaten filly Karuta Queen at $3.30.

Both Top Drop and Schiffer were originally scheduled to head north this week.

However, wet weather in Queensland and a fear they could miss crucial work has forced Ryan to change plans and keep the pair in Sydney until the week of the Gold Coast meeting.

"They'll stay here and go up on the Tuesday night before the race," Ryan said.

"Top Drop has pulled up terrific after his win on the weekend. It usually takes a day to get over his runs but he's bounced back well."

The colt, who will be ridden by Craig Williams in the Magic Millions Guineas, finished second first-up in the Wyong Magic Millions 3YO Stakes (1200m) before his victory at Randwick over 1400m on Sunday.

"He has the form, he's an honest horse and the journey suits," Ryan said of the new Guineas favourite.

"I've just got to get him there now.

"Each preparation he has come back stronger and better. We put him away in the early spring with this in mind."

The Rosehill trainer reported that Schiffer had "pulled up enormous" following her all-the-way win from a wide barrier at Randwick on Boxing Day.
