Connections of Sweet Cheeks are looking for her to bounce back with the aid of a couple of gear changes in Saturday's $1 million Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield after a disappointing last-start effort.

Trainer John McArdle will use blinkers and a tongue tie for the first time on the General Nediym filly after she ran sixth of eight to the impressive Psychologist in the Blue Diamond fillies Prelude (1100m) on February 6.

"We were disappointed with her last run but there were a couple of excuses, she choked down so we've tinkered with her gear," breeder and part-owner Earl Eddings said.

"She had a really good trial at Caulfield on Tuesday morning and Damien Oliver jumped off and was very impressed with her."

Oliver, having his 13th Blue Diamond ride, is hoping to land his second win in Victoria's premier juvenile event having scored aboard star filly Alinghi in 2004.

He has also had four seconds and two thirds in Blue Diamonds.

Eddings, a board member of Cricket Australia, races Sweet Cheeks with a group including Victorian cricket star David Hussey and McArdle's business partner Ben Clayton.

"She's drawn barrier four and we're very happy with that. She normally settles back off the speed and comes home strongly," Eddings said.

Eddings has been breeding and racing thoroughbreds for the past four years and has had two two-year-old metropolitan winners - Sweet Cheeks and McLoaded - this season, both prepared by McArdle.

He has already had a Blue Diamond runner in the Lee Freedman-trained Okaylah who ran ninth to Reaan in 2008.

"That was a real thrill but I think this one might be a little bit better hopefully," he said.

Sweet Cheeks impressed on debut winning the Listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes (1000m) at Flemington on October 3 before finishing runner-up to Blue Diamond rival General Truce in the Group Three Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) at Flemington on November 7.

Sweet Cheeks is at $21 with TAB Sportsbet.

Redoute's Choice colt Beneteau remains favourite at $3.60.
