Trainer David Payne and prominent investment bankers Kerr Neilson and Ken Hyman have proved a winning combination on the racetrack and Sequinella has the chance to cap off a good week for the trio.

Sequinella, who Payne bought on behalf of the Neasham Hayes syndicate which Hyman manages and Neilson is part of, runs in the Lord Mayor's Cup (1900m) at Canterbury on Saturday.

On Tuesday at Canterbury the South African contingent celebrated the frontrunning victory of two-year-old Chitu Ma, a $260,000 Magic Millions yearling purchase.

"We're making a good team," Payne said.

"Every horse I have bought for Kerr and Ken has won in town except Virtual Velocity who won at Gosford but broke down and had to be retired.

"They've got Kettledrum, Sequinella, Emperor Bonaparte, Rock Me Baby and now Chitu Ma, so they are pretty happy with things and so am I."

Catbird mare Sequinella comes into the Lord Mayor's Cup after running just over 14 lengths last in the Group Two Emancipation Stakes (1600m) on Anzac Day.

Sequinella, who was ridden by Jim Cassidy, was posted wide throughout after jumping from barrier 11 of 13.

To make matters worse Sequinella struck interference near the home turn which halted her momentum and she was simply making up the numbers in the run home.

"You have to forget that run, she's better than that," Payne said.

"If you look at her form she is always thereabouts and she will be competitive on Saturday.

"Canterbury doesn't suit her and we'll have to have her racing pretty close to the speed to have a chance."

The mare has drawn barrier six and will be ridden by apprentice Daniel Ganderton.

Two starts back Sequinella ran a close fourth to Divine Rebel in the Listed Epona Stakes (1900m).

Divine Rebel went on to win the Group Two Chairman's Handicap before finishing runner-up to Ista Kareem in the Group One Sydney Cup.

Also in the Lord Mayor's Cup is the Jim and Greg Lee-trained Keepin' The Dream, the subject of an ongoing inquiry into the finding of the prohibited substance testosterone in a urine sample taken after his victory in the Listed Sky High Stakes at Rosehill last month.

Stewards subsequently disqualified four-year-old Keepin' The Dream from the Sky High Stakes and awarded the race to the Payne-trained Kettledrum.

Payne said two-year-old stablemate Kimberley Kid would most likely be scratched from Saturday's opening event, the www.theraces.com.au Handicap (1250m).

"I might not run him because of the wide barrier (11) and we'll probably run him at in a 1100-metre race at Randwick on Saturday week," Payne said.

Kimberley Kid scored impressively over 1100 metres at Rosehill on May 2.
