Christian Reith's Stradbroke Handicap hopes were shattered in the stewards room at Rosehill on Saturday when he was hit with a careless riding suspension.

Reith copped nine meetings for his winning ride on See The World after he was found to have shifted out at the 200 metres and caused interference to Millenium Ruler.

The ban means he will miss the ride on leading chance Tiger Tees in the $1 million Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 9.

Reith pleaded guilty but put forward an impassioned plea to stewards to try to salvage his Stradbroke hopes.

"I would like to put forward that I've got a good ride in the Stradbroke and I hope you take that into account," Reith said.

"It's not very often I get a chance in a Group One race. I've ridden him every start.

"At the end of the day I should have waited longer, I've just misjudged it."

Reith said he intended to wait a couple of strides longer before moving to his outside but said See The World was a difficult horse to ride and got there too quickly.

Chief steward Ray Murrihy said the level of carelessness was too high for Reith's ban to have him back in time for the Stradbroke.

"We applaud your effort to win the race but that's not good enough, what we've seen there today," Murrihy said.

Murrihy told Reith he could easily have brought Millenium Ruler down.

Reith has until Monday afternoon to lodge an appeal but as it stands, the ban will start on June 3 and ends on June 20.

See The World won the PKF Handicap (1200m) by a half neck.

Reith has won the Listed Hall Mark Stakes and Group Three BRC Sprint on Tiger Tees in the gelding's two starts this campaign.
