Brad Rawiller is optimistic about the David Hayes-trained stayer The Fuzz bouncing back from his disappointing performance in last weekend's Group One Kingston Town Classic (1800m).

Rawiller won the Classic on stablemate Niconero and he will ride The Fuzz in the Group Two C B Cox Stakes (2100m) at Ascot on December 17.

Rawiller said The Fuzz lost any hope in the Classic when he missed the start badly and he predicted that he would be a different horse in the Cox Stakes.

"You can put a line through his run on the weekend," Rawiller said.

"Missing the start like he did, it became a non-event for him."

The Fuzz trailed the field and finished second last, nearly 30 lengths behind Niconero but is still on the path to the Perth Cup (2400m) at Ascot on New Year's Day .

"He is going much better than his last run showed and is doing enough on the track to suggest he is contention for the Perth Cup," Rawiller said.

The Fuzz was beaten only 3-1/2 lengths when 10th to Gilded Venom in last month's Group One Railway Stakes (1600m) after finishing second to All Silent in the Emirates Airline Handicap (1400m) at Flemington.

Rawiller said he was thrilled that he and Niconero were able to combine to win their second Kingston Town Classic after finishing a close fourth in the Railway Stakes.

"It was awesome," Rawiller said. "He could have won the Railway Stakes as well with a bit of luck."

Rawiller has flown to and from the Perth carnival in the last couple of weeks and this week will be no exception.

He has two rides on Sky Drama and Homme at Ascot on Wednesday before he returns to Melbourne for weekend meetings at Moonee Valley on Friday night, Flemington on Saturday and Ballarat on Sunday.

"I want to keep in touch with Victoria and make sure that I am not forgotten," Rawiller said.

He has picked up early rides at Flemington on Chilean Miss, who is resuming in the Qenos Handicap (1000m), and Snort in the Zouki Handicap (1400m).
