Trainer Gary Portelli didn't know a lot about juvenile Koblenz when she arrived at his Warwick Farm stables, he hadn't even seen her before, but it didn't take long for him to work out she was pretty good.

The Charge Forward filly will be the stable's only representative at Sunday's Wyong meeting when she makes her debut in the $200,000 Magic Millions Slipper (1000m).

Bloodstock agent Vin Cox, a long-time friend and associate of Portelli's, picked out the filly.

"It's a funny one because I had nothing to do with the buying process and she just arrived at my place and almost from day one she's showed us something," Portelli said.

"Vin bought her for some clients and I knew she'd be a nice type, he only buys nice ones and certainly she is nice."

Koblenz, who is out of the Dehere mare Halo Dehere, was passed in for $90,000 at the Magic Millions Premier Sales.

She defeated the promising Cortina Gal by 1-1/4 lengths in a barrier trial over 807 metres at Warwick Farm on November 14, turning in a performance that impressed Portelli.

"She showed plenty of good qualities in that hitout," Portelli said.

"There was only four in the trial and she sat out behind them and then pulled out and won it.

"She's one of those sort of horses that just does everything right, she's a pretty laid-back horse who just does what she has to at trackwork and I'm confident she will go well under race conditions."

Meanwhile, trainer Gerald Ryan is keeping his options open with colt Therock who is one of just seven runners nominated for the Magic Millions Slipper.

Therock is also nominated for a two-year-old handicap at Rosehill on Saturday.

"We'll make a final decision later in the week but the horse has done very well for us, he's a nice type," Ryan said.

By Group One-winning sprinter Fastnet Rock out of unraced mare Bumps, Therock won his first barrier trial at Hawkesbury on November 24.

"He's done everything we've asked so far and looks like he's ready to perform well," Ryan said.

Stablemate Dictatorship is one of six runners nominated for Sunday's $100,000 Magic Millions Classic (1200m) for three-year-olds.

The Commands gelding was fourth past the post on debut in a 1100-metre race at Canterbury on November 20 but was promoted to third after jockey Grant Buckley's protest was upheld against third over the line So She Said for interference near the halfway point.

"He's done well since the run and with a bit of luck I think he'll go very well on Sunday," Ryan said.

There are 19 nominations for the $100,000 Mona Lisa Stakes (1350m) including the Peter Snowden-trained Upper Echelon who broke through for her first win in nearly three years at Randwick on Saturday.
