Popular Warwick Farm trainer Bill Prain will be out to break his maiden status this season with Super Hawk at Randwick on Wednesday.

The affable Prain's last winner was Prince Of Capers at his home track on the last day of last season, July 31.

"I'm still a virgin this season," Prain said.

"But I hope to lose my virginity tomorrow."

Prain said Super Hawk, a Hawk Wing four-year-old to be ridden by Peter Robl, was "going enormous".

Super Hawk has drawn barrier five in a field of 12 in the Northerly Handicap (1800m).

The gelding has had no luck at his last two runs, jumping awkwardly second-up from a spell when a neck second to Sugarfoot over 1400m at Kembla on September 12.

Super Hawk then had support, from $5 in to $4.60, over 1550m at Canterbury on September 30.

But he was last on settling and blocked for a run at a vital stage when fifth, beaten just 2-1/2 lengths, to Gold Mount.

Prain said the step up in distance at Randwick was likely to suit Super Hawk.

"I've always thought he was a horse who'd run 1800 metres to 2000 metres," he said.

Super Hawk is on the fourth line of betting at $9.50 for the Northerly Handicap with the market headed by the Kevin Moses-trained Confessional ($3.60)

Confessional is coming off a win over 1600m at Warwick Farm on September 22 when he raced on the pace before beating King Thing by a long head, but has drawn the outside barrier at Randwick.

King Thing's Guy Walter-trained stablemate Dane Fontaine is the $4.80 second favourite.

The five-year-old Danehill Dancer mare was placed at her first two starts from a spell this preparation and was freshened up before making ground late when less than 2-1/2 lengths from the winner Bromar, a rival again on Wednesday, over 1550m at Canterbury on September 30.

Dane Fontaine is a winner up to 2100m.

Apart from Super Hawk, Robl has just two other rides at Randwick - the Chris Waller-trained Akbar Mahal ($5) in the Rising Fast Hcp (1300m) and Dubai Miss ($13) for John Thompson in the Ethereal Hcp (1400m).

Dubai Miss was formerly trained by Mick Price in Melbourne and was a beaten favourite last start over 2015m at Seymour on May 25.

She has been placed once from three previous first-up runs.
