Patrick Payne's dominance with a boutique group of jumpers has continued with his Grand National Hurdle hope Capecover scoring at Sandown.

Former Cups horse Capecover brought up Payne's ninth jumps win in a row in authoritative fashion in Wednesday's Follow @MRCtracknews on Twitter Hurdle (3300m).

Ridden by Steven Pateman, Capecover coasted to the line seven lengths ahead of Monte Cassino with Petushki another four lengths away third in the five-horse field.

Payne said he had six jumpers in work and that everyone in the stable was thrilled with the recent success.

"I love training the jumpers," Payne said.

"They take a bit of time but they have given everyone a great thrill."

Capecover has taken to jumping with great spirit after an accomplished career on the flat which included wins in the 2010 Adelaide and Mornington Cups.

He was also second in the 2009 Mornington Cup and placed in the Moonee Valley and Moe Cups.

He finished 17th to Shocking in the 2009 Melbourne Cup while other notable efforts included fourths in the Sydney, Sandown and New Zealand Cups.

"He is a great jumper but you haven't seen it yet," Payne said, suggesting better wins are ahead for the rising nine-year-old.

"The jumps are like a red rag to a bull to him.

"When he sees them he gets really aggressive and he just wants to attack them.

"Today I thought the majority he jumped really well while on the bridle, but the last couple he was a bit too aggressive at them.

"It is something I will have to keep working at with him."

Payne's winning run started when Kerdem won his maiden hurdle at Mornington on May 22.

Kerdem also won again over hurdles at Bendigo on June 2 when Capecover won his maiden hurdle.

Awakening Dream won his maiden steeplechase for the stable at Warrnambool on June 14 and Capecover (hurdle) and Kerdem (Mosstrooper Steeplechase) were again successful at Bendigo on June 19.

Last Sunday, Awakening Dream and Irish Charmer gave Payne another jumps double at Warrnambool.

Payne has planned another two runs for Capecover, at Sandown on July 13 and Warrnambool on July 31 before the Grand National Hurdle (4000m) at Sandown on August 14.

Kerdem is the stable's other big race hope and will run at Sandown on July 13 before the Crisp Steeplechase at Sandown on August 14 and the Grand National Steeplechase (4500m) at Sandown on August 28.

In the meantime, Payne will chase his 10th jumps win a row when former New Zealander Answer makes his Australian debut at Hamilton on Sunday.
