Unbeaten Queensland filly Paprika has strengthened her hold on the $2 million Magic Millions Classic with her fourth and most impressive victory.

The Liam Birchley-trained two-year-old stretched out over the final stages of Saturday's Tommy Smith Slipper at Doomben to dominate Carlton Forward by two lengths.

Paprika immediately firmed from $3 to $1.85 for the Magic Millions at the Gold Coast on January 10 after passing her first 1200m test with flying colours.

Gai Waterhouse, who will have two runners in the race she has won twice, was watching Paprika from Rosehill and was impressed by what she saw.

"She looks to be a very strong filly and deserves to be favourite," Waterhouse said.

"She has a lovely big stride on her and will be the one to beat.

"I am taking both Horizons and Shadow Assassin up to the Gold Coast for the two-year-old race."

Racing Pegasus is the $7 TAB Sportsbet second favourite with Shadow Assassin at $10, Horizons $12 and Carlton Forward out to $12 from $9 and Koblenz at $14.

Shadow Assassin was not among the original entries for the Magic Millions when Waterhouse did not believe he would not be ready in time.

But he surprised her with his professionalism to win the Strawberry Hills Magic Millions Prelude at Randwick on Boxing Day and Waterhouse immediately confirmed a start at the Gold Coast.

The Gary Portelli-trained Koblenz finished second as she had in the Wyong Slipper but the trainer was confident she would be further improved come the Magic Millions.

"She wasn't fully wound up and I think there is improvement in her," Portelli said.

"I think she has shown enough to say she will be in the finish in the Magic Millions."
