Emerging stayer Noble Park is set to build on his growing reputation when he launches his Caulfield Cup campaign at Flemington.

Trainer Mike Moroney has always liked the 17-hand four-year-old son of Pins who is looking to post his fourth win in five starts in Saturday's June Price and Anthony O'Donoghue Hcp (1410m).

"We have always had a pretty high opinion of him," Moroney said.

"He did it pretty much on raw ability last time in and this is a starting point for him.

"Certainly (the Caulfield Cup) would be in our thoughts and we will see how far we can get towards it.

He said the Naturalism Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield on September 17 would be his medium-term goal as it was a qualifying race for the Caulfield Cup.

"Winning that might be the only way for him to make the Cup field," Moroney said.

Noble Park has won from 1208 metres to 2000 metres, fuelling Moroney's hopes that he will sprint well fresh on Saturday.

He is $4.80 second favourite with TAB Sportsbet while Provincial Plate winner Mr Griswold ($3.70) heads the market after a last-stride win at Caulfield last Saturday.

Noble Park is fronting for only his second race campaign after winning on debut at Sale in February and finishing his autumn campaign with victories at Sandown and Flemington.

His Flemington win was particularly impressive, carrying 58kg and tracking wide throughout the event to score in photo-finish over Turnitup.

Turnitup franked the form at his next start when he won the Group Three Grand Prix Stakes (2200m) in Brisbane.

"(Noble Park's) win at Flemington was a very, very good effort given the run he got in the race and stepping up in distance (2000m)," Moroney said.

"He was beaten at the 100 metres but he fought back for a good win."

Moroney said Noble Park lacked the maturity to campaign during Brisbane's winter carnival and there was still a query on how he would handle a spring campaign.

"We'll just see how far we can go with him," Moroney said.

"He was a little on the weak side as far as maturity went which is why we didn't go to Queensland but he has come back looking quite good with the little break he had.

"He is a big, lean sort of horse so it is a bit hard to get a guide on him but he's going to strip reasonably forward in condition and he is the type who could go well over 1400 metres first-up.

"We have got to get his rating up and he is a horse who should go forward with experience."
