Trainer Tony Gollan will resist the temptation of having his first Magic Millions runner next week despite slick colt Temple Of Boom's blistering win at the Gold Coast.

Gollan went to bed on race eve in full belief that Temple Of Boom would be hard to beat in Saturday's $100,000 Magic Millions Prelude (900m) but the overnight rain deflated his confidence.

"He was never going to be ready for the Magic Millions final next week but I really thought he was close to a good thing in the Prelude," Gollan said.

"But how can you be confident about a two-year-old having its first start on a bog track like it is today?

"I even told the jockey not to knock him around if he wasn't handling the conditions because I had already picked a race out for him in a fortnight.

"He won't be ready for the Magic Millions next week but I'll keep him in work and start him at Eagle Farm in two weeks."

While Gollan confirmed Temple Of Boom a definite non-starter in the Magic Millions (1200m), Gold Coast trainer Maryann Thexton declared Fast Lover ($4 fav) a definite runner despite the horse's unplaced effort in the Prelude.

Fast Lover was slow to begin but was never in the hunt and finished ninth, more than eight lengths behind the winner.

"He had no chance the way that race was run today," Thexton said.

"He would had to have broken 33 seconds for his final 600 metres and two-year-olds just don't do that on wet tracks.

"I'll wrap him in cotton wool for the week and he will start in the Magic Millions next Saturday."

Temple Of Boom ($15) flew the gates and was already travelling like a winner at the turn where Matthew Palmer released the brakes and the Piccolo colt sprinted clear for an ultra-impressive 3-3/4 length win.

Commands filly Psychics tried her heart out in the straight to hold down second with Duckin' Daisies ($41) a length and three-quarters back in third.

Gold Coast trainer Bruce Hill confirmed runner-up Psychics would start in the rich juvenile feature next week and said the extra 300m would suit the horse perfectly.

"That should give her enough prizemoney to get a start and she'll run an honest race," Hill said.

"She was running home strongly today and the extra trip will work in her favour."
