Plans for Predatory Pricer are still up in the air with trainer Paul Murray due to hold talks on Tuesday night with the colt's owners to lock in a spring program.

The last start Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m) winner and half-brother to international sprint king Takeover Target, is nominated to back-up in the Group Three Gloaming Stakes (1800m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

Murray is leaning towards running him Saturday ahead of the Group One Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick a fortnight later.

The other option to be discussed is the Listed Dulcify Quality Handicap (1800m) at Randwick on September 27 before the Spring Champion Stakes.

"We've got two weeks if we run Saturday. If he gets a little bump or anything like that, he's got time to get it right where as having the week between runs does not give us that luxury," Murray said.

"The Dulcify is not set weights and he could get about 58 kilos where as the Gloaming is set weights.

"We'll sit down and discuss his program. Hopefully we can have something decided in the next 24 hours."

Managing owner of Predatory Pricer is Tony Hartnell from Meringo Stud, a former chairman of Racing NSW.

Hartnell is the man who bred and sold the Joe Janiak-trained Takeover Target for $1,250.

Predatory Pricer made a name for himself with his stunning victory in the Ming Dynasty Quality at Rosehill last Saturday.

"We knew he was pretty special when we first got him and it was nice to see him score that win," Murray said.

"The horse has done really well since Saturday and is stepping up nicely in trip and if he does run this weekend he will go very well."

The Kembla Grange trainer praised jockey Glyn Schofield for his outstanding ride in the Ming Dynasty.

Predatory Pricer was in the pack when the field turned for home and exploded in the closing stages to score narrowly from the Peter Snowden-trained Caymans.

"Glyn knows the horse so well and he showed that the other day by presenting so well in the straight and giving him every chance to show what he can do," Murray said.

Meringo Stud also bred and part-owned former champion juvenile Victory Vein who was trained by Murray's father Bede at Kembla Grange.

Murray said he would most likely give Predatory Pricer a break after the Spring Champion Stakes before preparing him for the autumn.

The AJC Australian Derby (2400m), a race his father won with Universal Prince in 2001, would be his main mission.
