Star mare More Joyous will headline Gai Waterhouse's team at Monday's barrier trials at Randwick ahead of her autumn return.

The winner of the Flight Stakes as a three-year-old in 2009, More Joyous stepped up another level last spring with her win in the weight-for-age George Main Stakes followed by victory in the Toorak Handicap.

The mare was spelled after running fifth to So You Think in the Cox Plate.

she will contest a 740m heat while her AJC Australian Oaks winning stablemate Once Were Wild will step out over 1005 metres.

Once Were Wild has not raced since finishing 11th in the Melbourne Cup. Both mares are raced by businessman John Singleton.

Waterhouse will have a strong hand in the 17 barrier trials at Randwick which will be followed by another 10 at Rosehill on Tuesday where leading trainer Chris Waller has a large team.

The Waller-trained multiple Group One winner Danleigh has been entered in the same trial at More Joyous on Monday and a 900m heat on his home track the following day.

Danleigh is scheduled to line up in the Group Two Expressway Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on February 5.

Waller's Rosehill neighbour David Payne will also be well represented at Tuesday's trials with Caulfield Guineas placegetter Masquerader and Victoria Derby runner-up Praecido to run in separate heats.

Both will be aimed at the Classic races this autumn.
