Promising filly Misty Blue faces her acid test at Flemington on Saturday but trainer Greg Eurell is confident the three-year-old has the ability to handle her first stakes attempt.

Misty Blue will contest the Group Three Vanity (1400m) and Eurell says the race will give him a good opportunity to assess the filly's capabilities with a view to better races in the autumn.

Eurell is considering Misty Blue for a trip to Sydney with races like the Surround Stakes (1400m), Coolmore Classic (1500m) and even the Storm Queen Stakes (2000m) possible targets should she head north.

The trainer has also nominated her for the Australian Guineas at Flemington in March and the Doncaster in Sydney the following month.

"But Saturday will give us a better guide," Eurell said.

The daughter of Commands has only had two career starts and was a dominant five length winner in a Ballarat 1200m 3YO Fillies Maiden at her most recent outing on January 14.

The victory convinced Eurell that Misty Blue was ready to tackle stakes company.

"It was an extremely good effort (at Ballarat) and I think she's better suited again at 1400 metres this week," the trainer said.

"She's in great order and I'm very, very happy with the progress she has made from her last run. Saturday is going to be the acid test going into black type but she is worthy of heading there and she's drawn nicely (in barrier six).

"I don't think she will disgrace herself, I'm expecting her to run very well and be a chance of winning."

Meanwhile, Misty Blue's stablemate Mic Mac has recently returned to Eurell's stable to prepare for a first-up tilt at the Group One TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on April 10.

"He had a good spell and the races we've picked out for him look very suitable," Eurell said.

Four Group One races have been mapped out for the four-year-old with the All Aged Stakes, BTC Cup and Doomben 10,000 to follow his first-up run in the TJ Smith.
