In-form trainer Desleigh Forster will give saddle-warming jockey Ric McMahon free rein when he partners quality galloper Easy Running in the Vo Rogue Plate at Doomben on Saturday.

Easy Running will be chasing redemption for his last-start defeat after he was first past the past at Eagle Farm two weeks ago when ridden by Damian Browne but lost the race on protest to the Noel Doyle-trained Biggles.

Forster has aimed Easy Running's campaign at the rich Magic Millions Guineas at the Gold Coast on January 14 and confirmed McMahon was only warming the saddle in the Vo Rogue Plate (1350m) until Browne returns from suspension.

"Ric knows the horse really well and he did a lot of work on him as a young horse before he raced," Forster said.

"But Damian has had a firm commitment to the horse since the start of his campaign and he will back to ride him at the Gold Coast."

The Vo Rogue has attracted a crack field and is shaping as a serious support act to the feature Bernborough Handicap with potential topliners like the Liam Birchley pair Show A Prince and Pepper Jet also confirmed starters.

Easy Running raced wide throughout last start off a wide draw and he has again drawn awkwardly in barrier 14 for the $150,000 Group Three feature on Saturday.

Forster said she would not tie McMahon down to any set pre-race instructions and said she would not be fazed if he goes forward or back after the start.

"It's a really nice run down the back off the 1350-metre start and if jumps well he could easily settle in the box seat," she said.

"But if he's slow out Ric can let him drift back and try to get in somewhere.

"Biggles has drawn perfectly again and he will be getting a soft run whereas we'll be doing all the work again like last time.

"He did a lot of hard work last time and he's proven himself to be up there with the better three-year-olds in the state."
