Trainer Gillian Heinrich has declared Ghetto Blaster her stable's best hope of winning an elusive Group One during the Brisbane winter carnival.

Ghetto Blaster makes his comeback in the Group Two Victory Stakes (1200m), formerly the Sir Byrne Hart Stakes, at Eagle Farm on Saturday ahead of three Group One attempts in the BTC Cup, Doomben 10,000 and Stradbroke Handicap.

Heinrich landed her greatest triumph as a trainer when Military Rose won the Magic Millions Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast in January.

But she missed winning at the elite level for the first time when the filly failed in the Golden Slipper Stakes at Rosehill earlier this month.

With Military Rose still in the spelling paddock, Heinrich is confident Ghetto Blaster can step up to be the stable's flag-bearer during the winter.

"He's a very good horse and I'm got no doubt he's up to it," Heinrich said.

"It would cap a great year if Ghetto Blaster could win a Group One."

Heinrich, who also saddles up Tour Guide in the Victory Stakes, is looking for her second success in the weight-for-age feature following All Bar One's win in the Sir Byrne Hart Stakes in 2006.

All Bar One went on to finish third to New Zealander Gee I Jane in the Group One BTC Cup before eventually retiring to stand at stud following two Group One failures in the Doomben 10,000 and Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley that year.

Ghetto Blaster hasn't raced since finishing eighth to Baqaba in the Listed Goldmarket Handicap (1300m) on New Year's Day while Tour Guide returns after finishing fourth to Heart Of The Citi at Eagle Farm in October.

Stathi Katsidis, who won the Magic Millions on Military Rose and two Group Ones aboard Shoot Out in the AJC Australian Derby and Randwick Guineas during the autumn, will ride Ghetto Blaster for the first time while Brad Stewart partners Tour Guide.

Heinrich has given both sprinters a barrier trial to prepare for their comebacks and Ghetto Blaster was easily the star performer at the Gold Coast earlier this month.

"Ghetto Blaster looks a million dollars and he's really pleased me. He's come back a lot better this time," Heinrich said.

"His last preparation was great and he would have won the Goldmarket if he hadn't been held up for a run.

"I was very happy with his trial win and his work since then has been enormous."

Ghetto Blaster has won nine of his 19 starts but it could arguably be better as his racing pattern is to get back early in his races.

Heinrich believes the Victory Stakes is an open affair with a number of chances including last-start Weetwood Handicap winner Poor Judge.
