Breeder-owner Roger Jennings had two reasons to be delighted after his promising three-year-old filly Galloping Hill won the Shiftmar Handicap at Sandown.

Stawell trainer Terry O'Sullivan explained that Galloping Hill's dam Vintage Heights had just tested positive for the first time in three years, to Mornmoot Stud-based stallion El Cumbre.

O'Sullivan was happy to back up Galloping Hill after she ran an encouraging fourth to Yesterday in the Twilight Glow Stakes (1400m) at Sandown last Saturday.

"We were pleased with her run last week and Luke Nolen who rode her said she didn't settle early and overraced which might have cost her a place," said O'Sullivan who co-trains the filly with his daughter Karina.

"We thought with that run under her belt she may settle a bit better today which she did, but she certainly did well during the week so we were happy to run her in this race."

With Mark Zahra aboard in Saturday's 1400m 0-72 event for three-year-olds, Galloping Hill ($5) settled fourth of the six runners and revelled in the slow six going to score by 1-3/4 lengths from Thirteenthknight with Outcrop 1-1/4 lengths away third.

Galloping Hill landed her first metropolitan win and made it three wins from her last five starts having already won at Ararat in September and Donald last month.

O'Sullivan is keen to give the daughter of Black Hawk a crack at a similar Super Vobis event, the Proud Miss Hcp (1400m) at Caulfield, in two weeks.

"It's unusual to strike a wet track at this time of the year but it was a bonus as most of the Black Hawks handle the soft," O'Sullivan said.
