Talented Queensland filly Femina Fashion is nearing her comeback ahead of an ambitious spring campaign aimed at the Group One Epsom Handicap at Randwick in October.

Trainer Trevor Whittington has been delighted with the four-year-old since she returned to work five weeks ago following the Brisbane winter carnival.

The daughter of Shamardal won the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m) on her home track on May 8 before finishing second to Victorian filly Marheta in the Group Three The Roses (2020m) at Doomben a fortnight later.

She failed to stay the 2400 metres when she finished ninth to New Zealand filly Miss Keepsake in the Group One Queensland Oaks (2400m) at Eagle Farm on June 5.

Femina Fashion pleased Whittington in a 900m barrier trial at Doomben last week despite going down by five lengths to Fulmonti.

"I thought her trial was very good and she'll have another trial at the Gold Coast before she resumes," Whittington said.

"She'll have her first run this campaign on Saturday week in a $100,000 race for fillies and mares at Doomben and if she goes well she'll head to Sydney."

Whittington has pencilled in the Group Three Bill Ritchie (1400m) at Randwick on September 25 as the lead-up to the Group One Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Randwick on October 2.

"She's come back a lot bigger and stronger following her spell and she's matured well," Whittington said.

"If she goes to Sydney and runs well in the Bill Ritchie I'll run her in the Epsom."

Whittington has also taken the precaution of nominating Femina Fashion for the Caulfield Cup as well as the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley in October.

"At this stage I'm only looking at Sydney and it's very doubtful she'll go to Melbourne," Whittington said.

"The Epsom should really suit her as she won't have a lot of weight."

Larry Cassidy and Shane Scriven shared the riding duties on Femina Fashion during the winter carnival but Chris Munce has been booked for her spring campaign.

"Chris rode her in her Doomben barrier trial and said she felt terrific," Whittington said.

"If she gets to the Epsom she'll get in with a light weight and Chris will be able to ride her throughout her campaign."
