Trainer Anthony Cummings has revised his opinion of Duporth as a middle distance horse and adjusted his program to take in shorter races.

After an unlucky eighth in the Group One Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on March 7, Duporth has returned to Sydney and will re-start his autumn campaign in Saturday's Phar Lap Stakes (1500m).

"The plan is to run him against his own age in the Phar Lap then step up to the George Ryder and the All-Aged Stakes," Cummings said.

"Early on I thought he was going to be a stayer but I think he is better as a sprinter-miler."

The weight-for-age George Ryder Stakes (1500m) is at Rosehill on April 4 with the All-Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick three weeks later.

While those races against all-comers will be hard they may not be as difficult as the Phar Lap which boasted 22 nominations on Monday.

They include Caulfield Guineas winner Whobegotyou, Australian Guineas winner Heart Of Dreams, 2008 Golden Slipper runner-up Von Costa De Hero and New Zealand Group One winner Fully Fledged.

Bjorn Baker, who trains Fully Fledged in partnership with his father Murray, was encouraged by Fully Fledged's fast-finishing third to Bhutane Dane in Saturday's Strada Stakes (1200m).

The Bakers were forced to send Nom Du Jeu home after his lacklustre performance in the Chipping Norton Stakes a week earlier.

"It's as good as a win to see him go so well," Baker said.

"He will back up and I think he will only get better over the further distance."

The stable's Sydney Cup hope Mr Tipsy is due in Sydney on Tuesday and has been entered for the Group One Ranvet Stakes (2000m).

There were 12 nominations for the Ranvet including Melbourne Cup winner Viewed and stablemate Moatize as well as Group One winners Fiumicino, Ice Chariot, Newport, Theseo and Tuesday Joy who is scheduled to fly to Dubai this week.
