Kerrin McEvoy and Darley's hopes of making a clean sweep of this season's juvenile Group Ones rest with talented colt Benfica in Saturday's TJ Smith at Eagle Farm.

The Peter Snowden-trained Benfica is Darley's only representative in the final Australian Group One two-year-old race of the season.

Darley has already won the Blue Diamond with Sepoy, Golden Slipper (Sepoy), Sires' Produce (Helmet) and Champagne Stakes (Helmet).

McEvoy has been in the saddle for all four Group One successes and believes Benfica is capable of bouncing back from defeat in last week's Group Two Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) when he finished sixth as favourite.

"I'm looking forward to him stepping up to the mile (1600m)," McEvoy said.

"We just had the little hiccup at the barriers the other day. If we can begin well we'll go forward and put him into a forward spot on Saturday."

Darley had two leading chances in last week's Sires' Produce but Free Wheeling reared in the barriers and took no part in the race.

Benfica, who was in the next stall to Free Wheeling, came out slowly after his stablemate reared.

From there McEvoy said Benfica was never in the right position to win the race.

"It was just a stuff up once we missed the start," McEvoy said.

"It was always going to be hard for him from there given the way the race was run. He's going to improve out of that and stepping up to the mile I'm sure he's going to enjoy that as well."

The Gerald Ryan-trained Hot Snitzel won the Sires' Produce in impressive fashion and is the $2.10 favourite for the TJ Smith despite drawing barrier 10 in the field of 11.

Last-start Doomben winner Fontelina (barrier eight) is on the second line at $3.60 ahead of Benfica who is at $5 and will jump from gate six.

McEvoy said the clean sweep was certainly something to strive for.

"It definitely would be a nice milestone to take home the whole sweep of the two-year-old Group Ones," he said.

"We'll be out trying to do our best on Saturday to achieve it."

While Benfica came up with a decent barrier in the TJ Smith, McEvoy didn't fare so well with his other Group One mounts at Eagle Farm.

Doomben 10,000 winner Beaded has barrier 17 in the $1 million Stradbroke (1400m) and Yulalona has to contend with barrier 21 in the Queensland Derby (2400m).
