Clarry Conners hasn't had to look far for inspiration recently, it's virtually been on the doorstep of his Warwick Farm stables.

The four-time Golden Slipper-winning trainer's eldest son Marc, whose stables are adjacent to his father's, has enjoyed an amazing winter run and nobody could be prouder than Clarry.

Marc Conners celebrated the slashing victory of Mr Clangtastic last Saturday at Randwick where stablemate Mossurmi came within a half-neck of winning his fifth race from his last six starts.

Mr Clangtastic's win followed that of stablemate Mandlikova who three days earlier cruised to a 4-1/4-length win at Randwick.

"He's going terrific and I'm very proud of him," Conners said.

"His horses are absolutely flying, he's got them in at the right time and the races are there for him and he's really cashing in, it's great."

Conners senior is hoping well-bred filly Fiction can emulate her trial performances when she makes her debut at Rosehill on Saturday.

Fiction is by Redoute's Choice out of the 2003 Graeme Rogerson-trained Golden Slipper winner Polar Success and runs in the N&A Group Handicap (1100m).

The filly has trialled three times, winning her last two hitouts including her most recent one at Warwick Farm where she defeated Unrepeatable by 2-1/4 lengths over 800 metres on June 29.

"She's not a very big filly but she's a very nice one," Conners said.

"She's done very well in the trials and now it's time to see if she can replicate that on race day, if she can she'll go well.

"I was going to run her at Randwick last week but the track was very heavy."

The Rosehill track was rated a slow (7) on Thursday.

Marc Conner's younger brother Heath, who is based at Caulfield, has Rare Poppi lining up in the Harris Farm Handicap (2000m) at Rosehill.

The seven-year-old went up against Mossurmi last week and made good ground late to finish fourth in the 1600m race won by Gergis.
