Trainer Trevor Bailey declared promising youngster Excapishe the "real deal" following the gelding's explosive win at Doomben.

Excapishe, ridden by Scott Galloway, led comfortably before extending his lead in the straight to score by 4-1/2 lengths from Vis Viva in Wednesday's Enwise Electrical Handicap (1030m).

Excapishe was spotted by Bailey's father Alan at the National Horses in Training sale at the Gold Coast last year and bought for $100,000.

He was originally knocked down to trainer Stephen Jones for only $16,000 from the Murrulla Stud draft at the Magic Millions sales.

"Dad picked him out at the Ready To Run trials and immediately told me I should have a look at him," Bailey said.

"He's above average, that's for sure, and he's only half wound-up.

"He's always shown plenty but he's taken a little while to grow into himself."

Bailey's confidence of a debut win with the son of Exceed And Excel grew after he galloped him against a Class Three horse at the Gold Coast last Saturday.

"He could have won by five or six lengths against the Class Three horse of mine," Bailey said.

"It's a big step for a first starter but he looks to be foolproof.

"He's a half-brother to Coincidental which Dad trained."

Excapishe and Coincidental are daughters of the Prego mare Capishe who is a full sister to multiple Group One winner Primacy.

Stakes winner Coincidental has been Capishe's best performed progeny to date.

Bailey is likely to give Excapishe his next start at Grafton in the $27,000 Inglis Bonus (1200m) which carries a $10,000 bonus to the winner of the 1200-metre feature on July 14.

"He'll probably go to Grafton next for the big two-year-old bonus race there," Bailey said.

"It's a race which has normally produced some good horses over the years."

Galloway was equally impressed with Excapishe's victory and forecast a bright future.

"I eased him down over the last 50 metres," he said.

"Hehad a bit left in the tank so I just eased him down at the finish to help with his education.

"It was a strong win and he's got loads of potential."
