Awesome Planet's form around the best fillies and mares in New Zealand has Trans-Tasman trainer Graeme Rogerson confident she will be a Queensland Oaks threat.

The filly arrives in Australia next week and will start in the Doomben Roses (2020m) on May 16 ahead of the Queensland Oaks (2400m) two weeks later.

Her recent form includes a third to Ekstreme and subsequent AJC Australian Oaks winner Daffodil in the Group Three Lowland Stakes (2100m) on February 28 followed by victory in the Listed Breeders' Classic (2000m) on April 3.

Her most recent start resulted in a fourth behind three older horses in the Group Two Travis Stakes won by Veloce Bella from Culminate and Gin Dartre.

Veloce Bella is due to contest races over the Brisbane winter while Culminate ran second to unbeaten filly Typhoon Tracy in the Coolmore Classic during the Sydney autumn.

"Awesome Planet arrives in Australia on the 14th and goes to the Roses two days later," Rogerson said.

"Her form in New Zealand has been very good and enough to think she has to be a big chance in Queensland.

"Jim Cassidy will ride her in both her Brisbane races."

Cassidy will also be the pilot of Bid Spotter who has raced his way into contention for the Queensland Derby with recent midweek wins over 1800 and 1900 metres in Sydney.

Rogerson and his fellow owners recently made the tough decision to geld Bid Spotter with the desired results coming on the track.

The three-year-old is by Redoute's Choice out of Isolda who Rogerson trained to win the 1995 Champagne Stakes.

Isolda beat Octagonal to claim her Group One success after he edged her out in the AJC Sires' Produce Stakes.

The trainer has yet to decide whether Bid Spotter will have his final lead up run to the Derby at Eagle Farm on June 6 in Sydney or Brisbane.

"The Grand Prix Stakes is an ideal race because it is over 2200 metres but it's just a week before the Derby," Rogerson said.

"We might run him in the Group Three Rough Habit (2020m) at Doomben instead or run him in Sydney.

"We will decide that over the next week or so."

The Group Three Rough Habit Plate (2020m) is at Doomben on May 23 while the Grand Prix is run at the Derby venue, Eagle Farm.
