A crack at next month's Magic Millions Sprint will be considered for troublesome galloper Here De Angels after he posted his fifth feature race win in the Listed Christmas Stakes at Caulfield.

Managing owner Rob Slade said he had asked trainer Mark Kavanagh to nominate the six-year-old for the $250,000 Gold Coast event on January 9 and was keen for him to run should he get too much weight in the Listed Doveton Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on the same day.

"I have asked Mark to nominate him up there but whether he goes or not I don't know," Slade said.

Here De Angels was a $100,000 Magic Millions yearling and he has proven a cheap, although at times frustrating, buy with his Caulfield win on Saturday his 10th in 26 starts, taking his career earnings to more than $570,000.

He would have raced more often but for his roguish barrier behaviour which has led to him being banned in the past.

"He won his first six starts but we have had some interesting times in between," Slade said.

"We have never had one injury with him. It has just been his temperament more than anything."

Here De Angels was on his best behaviour in the Christmas Stakes (1200m) and from the 600 metres he looked the one to beat with Steven Arnold having him tracking third outside the leaders.

Backed from $2.80 to start the $2.60 favourite, he coasted home to win by 1-3/4 lengths from South Australian sprinter Tramuntana ($12) and Time Matters ($10).

Formerly trained by Lee Freedman, Here De Angels was having his sixth start since joining the Kavanagh stable in January this year.

He hasn't finished further back than fourth for Kavanagh and was sparingly raced in the spring with a win in the Mitty's Cup (1200m) at Caulfield the highlight of his four runs.

Kavanagh's assistant trainer Merv Harvey said Here De Angels had never raced better and liked being kept fresh.

"He carries weight well and he had a bit on them today," Harvey said.

He admitted that the stable might have to look at better races for Here De Angels in the autumn should he keep winning.

He is a Group One performer and while he is yet to win one, he was fourth to Typhoon Zed in the 2008 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley.

The Oakleigh Plate, in which he finished seventh to Weekend Hussler at Caulfield in 2007, is among the autumn options for Here De Angels.
