Sportingbet Cox Plate invitee Side Glance finished third in the Group 1 Arlington Million (2000m) this morning (AEST time) and the indications are that trainer Andrew Balding is keen to pursue a path to Moonee Valley for the weight-for-age feature. The Arlington Million is a popular Group 1 feature on the USA racing calendar and Side Glance, at 22-1 on course, acquitted himself well in filling the minor placing after racing on the pace.

The seven-year-old gelding will head to Melbourne for the Group 1 2040-metre feature after this Group 1 placing and running fourth in the Group 1 Dubai World Cup in March behind Animal Kingdom.

Two other Moonee Valley Racing Club Cox Plate invitees, Mull Of Killough and Guest Of Honour, also lined up in the Arlington Million and finished eighth and ninth respectively.

In a dramatic finish and post-race, first across the line The Apache, trained by South African master Mike de Kock and ridden by French star Christophe Soumillon, was relegated to second after causing interference to eventual winner Real Solution.

Side Glance is currently seen as a $41 chance by TAB and you can view his full form here.
