Irish St Leger winner Voleuse de Coeurs will run in both the Caulfield and Melbourne cups this spring.

Trainer Mike Moroney said the mare was progressing extremely well after a short spell that followed her Sydney Cup run (12th of 17) in April.

“She’s up to doing strong pace work. She looks good and her work suggests she's really come on,” Moroney said.

“We’d like to run in the Caulfield and Melbourne cups this year,” he added.

Last year, making her Australian debut after easily winning the Group 1 Irish St Leger at the Curragh in Ireland, Voleuse de Coeurs ran 10th behind Fiorente in the Melbourne Cup.

“She has a thick, woolly coat now so she's certainly acclimatised," Moroney saud.

"She will probably resume in the (Group 1 $400,000) Makybe Diva (Stakes, 1600m) before running in either the Turnbull or the Underwood."

Moroney said the five-year-old mare (by northern-hemisphere time) would have two, perhaps three runs before the Caulfield Cup and the Melbourne Cup.

In the latest fixed-odds market on the Melbourne Cup Voleuse de Coeurs is a $51 chance.
