Tuned up with a slick trial win at Wyong, (2) Wild Journey 4/1 should be ready for a bold effort in race 8, a BM60 hdcp 1500m at Hawkesbury on Thursday. The 4YO, trained on the track by Tony McEvoy (whose runners have done us many favors in the last few months), is having his first run since July 20 when he ran 8th/8 in an RB75 (3YO) at M’ville Park, btn 10.7 lens. That was on a heavy track so I suggest it’s safe to ignore it. There’s a handy formline via Wild Journey’s 6th/15 in the Port Adelaide Guineas (Listed) 1800m at M’ville on Apr 13, btn 6.6 lens to the useful High Esteem. Wild Journey goes well 1st-up – he’s notched wins at Gawler 1211m and Balaklava 1400m when coming off a spell. And on Sep 9 he easily won a 1000m trial at Wyong. It all points to a big run today.
