Daughter of High Chaparral who made her lower grade rivals look distinctly second rate when she blitzed them at Ellerslie on Melbourne Cup day. Jockey Lisa Robertson had won the Auckland marathon just a few days' prior and the adrenaline was obviously still flowing as she dictated the pace in front nicely; clearing out by over two lengths in the run to greet the judge. The mare had caught my eye at her previous attempt - also at Ellerslie - when she also led but was hampered by a riderless horse. The combination fought on gamely for second place on that occasion. The same horse-rider duo cleared maidens at Ellerslie at the end of September.
