Warrnambool trainer Jarrod McLean has been disqualified for six months for presenting a horse at the races with elevated total carbon dioxide (TCO2) level. McLean pleaded guilty.

The charge related to alkalinising agents and a total carbon dioxide (TCO2) reading at a concentration in excess of 36.0 millimoles per litre in plasma being detected in a blood sample taken from Prymslea before the Power to the Punter 0-58 Handicap (1800m) at Mildura on August 30. Prymslea ran fourth but has been disqualified and the placings have been amended.

McLean was disqualified for six months from December 17. He also was found guilty and fined $2000 for not keeping accurate records of treatments administered to a horse in his care.
