It's Hussler Hype time again, but this time around the claims of 'superstar greatness' are much more muted...In fact, the biggest headline is the one that says Weekend Hussler has injury problems again! WH has had 53 weeks on the sidelines with a fetlock injury, and trainer Ross McDonald has been hosing down rumors that the five-year-old was lame after trackwork. He's currently a 10/1 chance for Sat's 1100m Grp 1 Oakleigh Plate.

Gai Waterhouse reckons the weights favor Weekend Hussler in the Oakleigh Plate. The outspoken Queen of Aussie Racing says: 'They have buggered up the handicap races, buggered them up major...He is a great horse, Weekend Hussler, he has won seven group 1 races, but he only has 58.5 kilograms...I know my horses fall into the same category sometimes but now horses are getting into these races six, seven, 10 kilograms light. The weights don't give the rising star a chance. They can win sometimes, but handicaps are about giving the best horse the highest weight, the up-and-coming horse a light weight.'

Gai's runner in the Oakleigh Plate is Swift Alliance, who has a half-kilo over the limit on 52.5kgs. But Gai is adamant the horse is too close to Weekend Hussler in the weights. Swift Alliance is at 15/2 in the TAB Sportsbet market, which has Lucky Secret and Wanted sharing favoritism at 9/2.

The barrier draw may have torpedoed a at least one of the key fancies in Sat's Blue Diamond. Drawn widest, Psychologist eased from $4.40 to $6 yesterday while the popular Beneteau, drawn in #9, was unmoved at $3.60. But barrier blues don't seem to be deterring punters from unbeaten Star Witness. He's at $8 after coming up with gate #15. Glenn Munsie of TAB Sportsbet says: 'Since the barrier draw we've only laid two runners, Beneteau and Star Witness...They are the two they want to be on and they are our worst way.'
