Cranbourne trainer Greg Eurell has unearthed a successor to his ill-fated Cox Plate winner Pinker Pinker...It's the lightly-raced Love For Ransom, impressive winner at Moonee Valley on Sat. Betstar immediately crunched the filly's Thousand Guineas price, trimming her from $51 to $5.50 second fav for the Grp 1 fillies' classic behind Commanding Jewel ($4.20). Betstar's Alan Eskander told PPD: 'Wow! Where did she come from? You only had to see Glen Boss's reaction on the line to realise that this is a very serious racehorse. With the early Thousand Guineas favourite Nechita flopping in the Golden Rose and now unlikely to run, it opens the doors for another horse to step up, and she certainly looks the main danger now to Commanding Jewel.'

In other spring news...Happy Trails booked his place in the Cox Plate field with a narrow win over Green Moon in the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes, a victory which saw Betstar halve his price from $41 to $21 for the WFA championship. Alan Eskander says: 'Happy Trails is finally putting it together and the change in race tactics has made a huge difference...However, I'm not convinced we'd get the same result if this race was run in a month. Green Moon looks right on track to me - it's just a matter of the stable determining which path to go down. We've kept him very safe in the Cox Plate market ($17 to $13) and retained him as favorite for the Caulfield Cup ($15 to $13)and he is also second fav for the Melbourne Cup behind Mount Athos and looks to be tracking along beautifully.'

Star Sydney mare More Joyous has retained her position on the second rung of Cox Plate betting at $6 (behind stablemate Pierro) after her clinical victory at Rosehill. 'She's another one who is ticking along nicely but that opposition today was a long way off the Cox Plate. However, you can't argue with her record and I'm sure Melbourne racegoers are keen to see her head south for the spring," says Alan Eskander. Golden Rose winner Epaulette was the big firmer in Caulfield Guineas betting with Betstar cutting his price from $17 to $9. (www.betstar.com.au or betstar.mobi)
