On Saturday at Ellerslie, Dowager Queen became the Cox Plate winner Savabeel's 8th black-type winner when she raced away with the country's longest two-year-old stakes race, the 1600m Listed Network Visuals Champagne Stakes. Her year older stablemate Scarlett Lady broke through for her first stakes win in the Listed Manawatu Breeders' Stakes at Awapuni on April 8. Major targets in Brisbane have been confirmed for both fillies. Scarlett Lady will be aimed at the Grp 2 Doomben Roses on May 21 followed by the Grp 1 Queensland Oaks on June 4, while Dowager Queen is after the Grp 1 T J Smith Stakes on June 11, with the possibility of a start in the Grp 2 QTC Sires' Produce Stakes a week before that.
