Sad to see Jack Denham die at 85. Much of his amazing life story probably died with him. He rarely gave interviews and had a frosty relationship wih the press. Jack, of course, trained Might And Power to win the 1997 Caulfield and Melbourne Cups but he trained a vast number of winners through his long career. Jack, of course, trained Might And Power to win the 1997 Caulfield and Melbourne Cups but he trained a vast number of winners through his long career. He was one of the great trainers and had he been a more openly friendly type, to the press at least, his accomplishments would have received far greater recognition. But that's the path Jack chose. Privately, it's said, he was a kind, generous man.
