Most journos didn't bother trying to get a quote in the latter years. Occasionally, some comments would come from son Allan. Jack, of course, trained Might And Power to win the 1997 Caulfield and Melbourne Cups but he trained a vast number of winners through his long career. He was one of the great trainers and had he been a more openly friendly type, to the press at least, his accomplishments would have received far greater recognition. But that's the path Jack chose. Privately, it's said, he was a kind, generous man.
