Chad Schofield seems to have become the latest fall-guy for stewards. He's out until Mar 18 after copping his 8th suspension this season for his winning ride on Auld Burns. Trainer David Hayes says the ride was 'great' but oddly the stewards are talking of sending Chad for special training to 'correct' his riding style. Oh, please! This young bloke is one of the best of Australia's younger jockeys. What on earth will be achieved by 'correcting' his riding style? If anything, Chad just tries too

If anything, Chad just tries too hard. However, if the stewards continue to blitz him for mistakes then his confidence will be rattled to the point where he will loss the instinctive trust in his own skills. Maybe his dad Glyn Schofield should insist he return to Sydney?

Trainer Jim Conlan reckons his Aussie Guineas winner Ferlax has plenty left in the tank. That means the 3YO's autumn is far from over. Conlan's plan is to take the colt to Sydney, possibly for the All Aged Stakes, or even Brisbane for the Stradbroke Handicap. He says: ''We've got Sydney coming up but it might even be ideal to back off him and look at maybe going to the All Aged or maybe even going to the Stradbroke while he is still going to get in OK with the weights."
