OWNER Phil Sly will pay a late entry fee for the Thousand Guineas for brilliant Sale Maiden winner Lumosty, reports Racing Network. Sly has to pay next Tuesday a $27,500 late entry fee for Lumosty, which emerged as one of the favourites for the $500,000 Group 1 at Caulfield On Guineas day, October 11.
Sportingbet trimmed the odds of Lumosty from $9 to $6.50 for the Thousand Guineas.
But, Sly said on the back of Lumosty's nine length win he would have no hesitation in parting with the late entry fee.
Trainer Robert Smerdon said he wanted to ensure to have a good gallop if she was to be a bona fide Thousand Guineas prospect.
Smerdon said Lumosty, scratched from last Sunday's Thousand Guineas Prelude as stewards had not approved her racing in bar plates, was aided by the "forgiving" surface at Sale.
Craig Williams angled off the fence before the home turn and in a twinkling Lumosty had put a space on her rivals on route to the softest of nine length wins.
"I was pleased when Craig came out when he did and make sure she went right through the line," Smerdon said.
"The form around her is strong going into the better fillies races. We had a few issues with her, but she seems to be right now."
Smerdon and Williams made it a race to race double when Savage Coup won the Maiden Plate.
