Multiple Group 1 winner Boban has returned to Chris Waller's Sydney stable and will be given the opportunity to defend his Epsom Handicap crown, reports Racing Network.

Waller's decision to target the feature handicap at Royal Randwick on October 4 will result in the weights remaining as they are.

With a minimum topweight of 57kg required, it was feared that they would need to be raised. But Boban's confirmation will see him carry 58kg.

Boban's past two runs have been in Melbourne, finishing fifth on both occasions behind Dissident in the Memsie and Makybe Diva Stakes.

"We've got him back home," Waller said. "He seems a lot more comfortable in Sydney and he has performed well over a mile at Randwick, winning this race last year."

Boban carried 53kg when he won the Epsom Handicap 12 months ago but has subsequently won the Emirates Stakes and Chipping Norton Stakes at Group 1 level.

Waller also indicated that he is contemplating starting He's Your Man in the Epsom Handicap.
