Black Caviar seems to have returned to racing in even better nick than she left it in the spring...She won a barrier trial at Caulfield on Tuesday by some 8 lens, clocking a slick 46.3s. Jockey Luke Nolen says the hitout was 'sensational...She went that fast I had to get the Chapstick out.' That's a refefence to scorched lips, by the way. Trainer Peter Moody is just as confident as Nolen that Black Caviar is on the brink of a massive autumn. He says he's seen a 'real change' in the mare's character since she rejoined his Caulfield stables last month. He says: 'Even around the stables she's much more laid-back...Last time in she would have been dancing a bit but this morning she was just walking around.' Black Caviar will return to racing on Saturday week in the Grp 1 Lightning Stakes at Flemington and after that it'll be the Grp 1 Newmarket Handicap.
