Stephen Baster's Singapore nightmare has turned into a winning dream back in Australioa. The popular jockey may have earned himself a ride in the Blue Diamond after his winning ride on Casquets at Flemington. The daughter of Fastnet Rock had a wide trip throughout,to score a narrow-but-impressive win. The time was a solid 1:03.24, which included a slick 33.63secs final 600m. Trainer Mark Kavanagh says he's open to the idea of backing up Casquets in next Saturday's Blue Diamond Stakes. He says: "There's a sense of timing with her right now, so we'll see how she does over the weekend and work out whether we send her to the paddock or we go forward...There's certainly improvement in her and if she can improve as much going into next week as she has from Moonee Valley to here she would certainly be a chance you'd think." As for Baster, after being axed from the Singapore riding ranks, without a reason, he's quickly making his mark again.
